Mineral Identification Quiz
GeoMiner's free mineral identification quiz tests evidence-led field reasoning across twelve questions without an account, timer, upload, public leaderboard, or competency certificate. Questions cover relative hardness brackets, streak versus a scratched plate, cleavage directions, crystal habit limits, magnetism, transparency, colour limitations, quartz versus calcite, hematite versus magnetite, gold look-alikes, and safer handling of a possible lead-bearing mineral. Each answered question provides an explanation and a direct route into the relevant source-backed property guide, comparison, safety reference, or printable worksheet. Answers and the current score stay in the browser; only the best numeric score is stored on the visitor's device. GeoMiner analytics receive only bounded actions, a broad score band, and an optional broad review topic—never answer choices, question responses, specimen information, search text, photos, locations, or identifying data. The quiz teaches how to combine independent observations, contradictions, alternatives, uncertainty, and a safer next test rather than treating one property or an app result as laboratory proof.
