Botryoidal identification and geology
A crystal habit in which a mineral forms smooth, rounded, grape-like masses composed of radiating crystal fibers growing from multiple nucleation points. The term describes an external morphology, not a crystal system. Botryoidal surfaces are typically smooth and have a bubbly or lumpy appearance. Field: mineralogy. Example: Malachite commonly displays a vivid green botryoidal habit with concentric banding visible on cut surfaces, formed by precipitation from copper-bearing solutions in the oxidation zones of copper deposits..
