Denudation identification and geology
The overall lowering of a land surface through the combined processes of weathering, mass wasting, and erosion. Denudation rates are measured in units of surface lowering per unit time e.g., mm/year or m/Ma and vary widely depending on climate, lithology, tectonic setting, and vegetation. High denudation rates are associated with active orogenic belts, while low rates characterize stable cratons. Field: geomorphology. Example: Denudation rates in the Himalayas exceed 1 mm/year due to intense monsoon rainfall, steep slopes, and rapid tectonic uplift, producing enormous sediment loads in rivers like the Ganges and Brahmaputra..
