Foliation Metamorphic alignment of minerals. Symbol: strike and dip with two ticks. Joints Fractures with no displacement. Record orientation and spacing. Faults Fractures with displacement. Document: - Orientation - Sense of movement - Fault gouge width - Slickenline orientation Linear Features Trend and Plunge Measure orientation of linear features: - Trend: horizontal direction bearing - Plunge: angle below horizontal Examples: fold hinges, lineations, slickensides
