Minerals present: Plagioclase labradorite-andesine, Augite, Olivine. Formation: Erupts from shield volcanoes and oceanic island volcanoes from mildly evolved alkaline magma. Common geological settings: Hawaii, Canary Islands, East Africa; common in oceanic island volcanic settings. Common look-alikes and related entries: Basalt, Mugearite, Trachybasalt.
